PUL#12 (CD) -02/2008 – Computer: Give Me A Frame
buy at amazon / download here

GIMMEFRAME

.computer..´s first longplay record is a beautiful mixture of electro rock and weirdo pop. On their debut “give me a frame” .computer.. combine warm guitar tunes with bouncing beats as well as sweet synth sounds with melancholic vocals. A record full of neo-krautrock tunes, somewhere between the Notwist´s “Neon Golden”, Postal Service´s “Give Up” and Electric President´s “Electric President”. Charming and smart just like your best friend.

PUL#11 (CD/LP) -08/2007 – Figurines: When The Deer Wore Blue
buy at amazon / download here

WHEN-DING
Where the first 2 albums showed a band that got their inspiration from the American indie-rock scene of the nineties it’s even more evident on their 3rd album “When The Deer Wore Blue” that FIGURINES definitively have a strong affection for sixties-sounds, but -unlike a lot of other Scandinavian bands, who are influenced by pre-punk and/or garagebands like the Sonics, the Seeds or the Who- FIGURINES’ love for the sixties lies in melodies like those created by the Zombies, Love, The Beach Boys and other great mid 60’s West Coast Bands. Pop in to Figurines’ sophomore full-length “When The Deer Wore Blue” and what you’ll find is the sound of a band who has not only figured out just what they do best, but exactly how to do it. The album is brimming with the atmosphere of a feeling like lowering sun and the smell of a freshly cut lawn that it only makes sense to release it during the last days of summer, in hope that this feeling might last forever. “When The Deer Wore Blue” oozes of good vibrations built upon lush, intricate arrangements.

PUL#10 (CD/LP) -01/2007- Green Concorde: Ten Cities
buy at amazon /download here

TEN-DING
Ten Cities. Ten places consisting of numerous places. You cannot be in ten places at the same time. You will not stay in one place at the time. Ten Cities is the space between the places. It is a manifestation of a longing to be where you are not. Green Concorde travels between Ten Cities. But they never settle down.
The album renders a collage of thunderous jet engines and paranoid lyrics in the eternal voyage between the cities. Everywhere and nowhere. The songs represent the movement, while the beat pumps in concordance with the pulse of the claustrophobic city.

PUL#08 (CD/LP) -06/2006- Sometree: Bending The Willow
buy at sometree’s / download here

BEN-DING
After “Moleskine” (2003) “Bending The Willow” is the fourth album by Sometree. It was recorded by TOBIAS LEVIN (Kante, Tocotronic, Slut), mixed by GORDON RAPHAEL (The Strokes) and produced by the band over a painful 9 months period . The new album shows their love for bands like Radiohead, Mogwai and The Police. It features complex indirock ballads, beautiful postrocksongs and driving guitars. With their new album Sometree reach a level of their own. Forget about emo, forget about their old game low guitars in the verse and loud guitars in the chorus. For the first time the band has captured their intense energy and the incredible warmth of their shows on a record. From the opener “Whatever Makes You Sleep” up to the epic “Seraph” Sometree redefine their sound and songwriting and
show what they are capable to do.

PUL#07 (CD/LP) -06/2005- Figurines: Skeletonbuy at amazon/iTunes

SKEL-A-TONAs if ‘Shake a Mountain’ was a successful attempt in bringing the band to maturity, the uptight hyperactivity of their early days has given way to a cautiously chosen approach to style and epoch. For example Rivalry, with its discreet keyboard and a melody that would have got the dancehalls rocking forty years ago, sounds like one of those pop-bands whose records simply everybody puts into protective sleeves. ‘I Remember’ with its cheerful rhythm and a banjo popping up here and there shows a glimpse of country – just to turn into pure indierock again that makes you tap your toes. To sum it up: this record is very good. It comes along freshly – there is no musty smell of retro-spirit breath. …because indierock has never been dead. There!

PUL#06 (CD/LP) -05/2004- Figurines: Shake a Mountainbuy at amazon

SHAKE A MOUNTAINIn late 2002 Figurines started recording their debut album titled Shake a Mountain. The album was released in Denmark in mid-2003 and got great reviews in the danish press. All of a sudden Figurines couldn’t escape everybody’s attention anymore. Even a senior editor of The Rolling Stone magazine, David Fricke, talked about Figurines as a very young, yet cool band with a lot of potential. Figurines got their inspiration from the American indie-rock scene of the nineties and also definitively have an affection for sixties-sounds, but, unlike a lot of other Scandinavian bands, who are influenced by pre-punk and/or garagebands like the Sonics, the Seeds or the Who, the love of Figurines for the sixties lies in melodies like those created by the Beach Boys, the Zombies or Love.

PUL #04 (CD/LP) -09/2003- Sometree: Moleskinebuy at Sometree’s

MOLESKINESometree wanted to try new paths for Moleskine and hired Dinesh (Nationalgallerie/Fink) as their producer to create a clear but dark sound and a really individual production. The songs were recorded at Raum 001 and at Hamburg’s famous Electric Avenue, the studio which the most popular german indierock-band Tocotronic had used to record their last album.
While recording over a period of nearly three months the band discussed, rejected and reinvented not only themselves but also their sound. Getting tired of being famous for their dynamic eruptions, the band focused on classical songwriting and new arrangements – introducing stringless instruments to their sound like analog synths, trumpets and horns. The result is accessible, entertaining and impressive, the songwriting unique.

PUL #02 (CD/LP) -03/2001- Sometree: Sold Heart to the Onebuy at Sometree’s

SOLD HEART TO THE ONESometree’s second longplayer “Sold Heart to the One” is a collection of sparkling pearls drifting between dizziness and highly concentrated awareness. The songs act like an economically furnished, darkened room; once you enter it, you are not sure whether you should let the sun in or make yourself comfortable in the twilight. The album has a mysterious quality that can also be found on albums of Talk Talk or Radiohead – fragile, tricky rhythm patterns and beautiful melodies.
Sometree have toured together with bands like Black Heart Procession, Jets to Brazil, Burning Airlines and At the Drive-in. On this album they have a guest appearance of Mr. Pall A. Jenkins of Three Mile Pilot and the Black Heart Procession. It was recorded by K. Ebelhaeuser (Blackmail, Scumbucket) at Germany’s famous Blue Noise studio.
