Welcome to our website!
Pop-u-loud is a small record label that was born in the year 2000. These pages are here to promote our stuff, the bands and ideas. This site is aimed at everyone interested in our past, present or future work. In the news section we try to keep you informed about things we currently work on. Thanks for visiting, have fun, tell your friends about us …and stay tuned!

The story so far…
“I am experienced!”, exclaimed Mr. Klabunde, ” Oops, …doin’ it again”, he added. After his financial fiasko with K La Bunde Rec 01 in 1996 – of which 150 were sold, 200 were given away for free and the remaining faded away on an old attic – the neighbors are still under suspicion – now Mr. Klabunde has found a serious partner in Mr. Clasen for his next Atlantic crossing.

The opportunity to do a seven inch single with Sometree gave the young men the feeling to be needed one more time…
Inspired by the Sub Pop Single Club and the Post Marked Stamps Single Series on Tree, the idea was born to release stuff from bands they were friends with or german bands whose songs stuck in the head of the Populoud A&R team.

Then along came their friend Ingo and the idea received a name. Subjectively popular music with weird or loud appeal for the willing listener. That is POP*U*LOUD. Then Ingo left and the cuckoo’s egg was in the nest – as for many people POP*U*LOUD seems to mean something else (…at least for german ears). Thanks to the many bad single-labels in the world, which have spoiled the purchase of our small pets, the mission was clear: a special design in an atypical format, 70 gr. deluxe-pressing and our favorite bands.

Initially the plan was to put out such a seven-inch every 4 to 6 months. This mission had to fail, because they took the chance to release the second full length record of the band Sometree. But we are all anxious to see, what future will have for them. This site, which came to life with the help of their hacker-friend mark, is part of the effort to give the bands a platform.
